Purpose Economy

A hip crowd of purpose seeking people showed up for a Kigi Life educational event honoring award winning entrepreneur and author Aaron Hurst and his new book “The Purpose Economy”. The underground music venue, Red Door, was the perfect location for an intimate discussion with Aaron about his new book. He joined ProjectArt founder, Adarsh Alphons, onstage for a fireside chat about how the economy is evolving and shifting towards purpose and how this will transform business and society. The crowd interacted in the discussion and many interesting perspectives and ideas were shared. Not only is Aaron a brilliant visionary but he is also a down to earth and super cool guy. Afterwards he signed books and mingled with the crowd while Prinz Carlson kept the underground music vibe alive with his dj-ing.

What I found personally inspiring about the ” Purpose Economy ” was the language that Aaron successfully put around the action of purpose. His book is a guide to help people recognize purpose in their own lives and to help you find your place in this new economy. He debunks some myths and uncovers some truth: “Purpose is a journey – it doesn’t come as a revelation from above, but from living life awake and seeking new experience”. I like this because it encourages people to be present and mindful, put yourself out there, accept change as a constant and have fun when you hit the bumps in the road. Aaron shows that purpose rich careers are still a lot of work but the rewards are greater in overall well-being. When you are empowered and utilize your greatest strengths, you naturally find purpose. My experience is that nowadays, people are seeking more than just the accumulation of material items and are beginning to seek meaning in their lives and line of work. “Own your purpose so that you can articulate it as part of your identity” Thanks Aaron I’m going to use that ☺

Aaron has recently launched Imperative, a social benefit corporation with a mission to connect people to purpose on a massive scale. They are the first human-centered career platform that enables people to find and manage work that is personally meaningful. Among this, he has also founded the Taproot Foundation, whose mission is to lead, mobilize, and engage professionals in pro bono services that drives social change. Among other accolades, he is a recipient of the LS&A Humanitarian Award and is an all around great guy.
